Partner Meeting 2 and Launch Conference

Organisation Donegal County Council
Aim To bring project partners together for the second meeting of the TIDE project, where project management, activities, and financial reporting will be discussed and agreed.

The second meeting of the TIDE project will be hosted by Donegal County Council (Donegal, Ireland) in Buncrana.

At the partner meeting, all the ongoing project activities will be reviewed, including project and financial reporting, communication procedures, workplan structure, coordination of work packages, deliverables, outputs and timelines, risks or issues. Clarity will be provided by the Lead Partner (ERNACT) if there are any questions about project implementation.

Launch Conference
Donegal County Council will organise the project Launch Conference in the afternoon and is open to members of the public.

Ronan Mc Connell,  TIDE Project Officer at Derry City and Strabane District Council (Northern Ireland) will present the story of the SS Laurentic to the attendees, a ship which sank in Lough Swilly with a huge loss of life while carrying 43 tonnes of gold in 1917. Furthermore, the U-boat surrender story and subsequent sinking of the u-boat fleet off Donegal in Operation Deadlight will also be presented.

Dr. Fabio Sacchetti a representative from the Marine Institute - Foras na Mara INFOMAR (Integrated Mapping for the Sustainable Development of Ireland’s Marine Resource) will showcase the work that the organisation is carrying in the coast of Ireland. With more than twenty years of experience, the programme maps the physical, chemical and biological features of Ireland’s seabed. INFOMAR is funded by the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment (DCCAE), and delivered by joint management partners Geological Survey Ireland and the Marine Institute.
