Tourism Toolkit for European Maritime and Underwater Cultural Heritage
9 Jul 2021
We present a collection of good practices, knowledge, methods and tools to aid historical site identification and tourism product development.

Atlantic Area
funded TIDE, or 'Atlantic Network for Developing Historical Maritime Tourism' project, has launched the Tourism Toolkit for European Maritime and Underwater Cultural Heritage.

TIDE is using digital technologies to network historical maritime tourism attractions in the Atlantic Area. The project will aid organisations and practitioners in the Atlantic region tourism development sector to develop new tourism products. To achieve this objective, coordinated by TIDE partners in
Cadiz University (Spain) and with the contribution of the whole partnership, a Toolkit has been created, which addresses Atlantic Area programme's priority of ‘Enhancing biodiversity and the natural and cultural assets’.

The TIDE Toolkit contains a collection of good practices, knowledge, methods and tools to aid historical site identification and tourism product development. It presents a series of exercises designed to help those responsible for development and promotion of these sites to piece together the elements of a comprehensive management framework. It outlines a strategy that ranges from initial site identification, to creation of a narrative, environmental preservation, and enhancement using digital transformation technologies to enrich visitor experiences. The expertise of the TIDE partnership has ensured that the Toolkit is rooted in practical realities and the requirements of the end users.
